Growing up I always heard that if you do what you love, success will come.  Well, it’s hard to love getting dirty in the rain, but we do and here’s why.

At Your Service Inc. is a family owned business that started in 1992 by my father Dick Plyler.  Dad had retired, at the age of 46, from a successful career in the restaurant business, and decided to branch into new horizons.  After a family trip to a New York City franchise convention, Dad decided to spend his remaining career working at his own pace in a lawn care and professional exterior cleaning company.  Keeping with tradition and Dad’s own pace the company accelerated quickly and after a chance meeting with a Wal*Mart HVAC Manager, At Your Service was specializing in cleaning HVAC equipment.

Within, 3 years AYS (At Your Service) had grown from 1 van, 1 man to 3 trucks and 8 men and we haven’t stopped since.  I worked my first summer with Dad while I completed my degree from Penn State and in 1996 bought a half share of the company.  From 1996 – 1998 we were servicing over 350 retail locations, and at the peak of business, Dad, once again, decided to retire.  I must admit, I was a bit scared and young to be owning a business, but with Dad’s work ethic, his life’s worth of business know how, and a strong will to succeed, I bought the remaining share and charted a new course of challenge and uncertainty.

From 1998 – 1999 the business had doubled and AYS was growing fast.  With 16 employees, a new baby, and our filter and coil cleaning services in high demand, I was feeling overwhelmed; thank God for Melissa and Jeff.  Melissa, my sister, and her husband Jeff entered the business in 1999, and along with a current staff of local friends and family, AYS was poised to keep growing and expanding into new markets and services.

In 2005 another addition was made to AYS when my brother, Mark, joined the team.  Mark has a knack for all things mechanical and brought value to the company with design, repairs, and upkeep of our now 18+ service rigs. 

Currently, AYS proudly employs 47 people; with their family members included our AYS family is well over 120+.  This is what we love and why we work so hard for our customers.  Yes, our hours are long, we spend days away from our loved ones, we work in rain, snow, freezing temperatures,  extreme heat and every other type of filthy, extreme environment a body can be put through, but we love it because it’s what keeps the family together.  In our 17 year history, we retain 7 employees that have been with us for over a decade and another 6 that have been here 8 years; that is more than 118 years combined experience.

The last 17 years have been a great experience, starting as a small lawn care company to servicing over 1,500 locations and covering a 16 state region today.
